According to sources close to the company, Shell declared a force majeure on MEG output from its 750,000 ton/year plant in Singapore on December 4. Some sources stated that the company is planning to shut the plant or to reduce operating rates due to an outage at a steam cracker at the same site, although the current operating status of the plant is unclear.

Previously, the company declared a force majeure on ethylene and propylene supplies from its steam cracker at in Pulau Bukom, Singapore on December 1. The Pulau Bukom cracker has a production capacity of 960,000 tons/year of ethylene and 540,000 tons/year of propylene.
