Shell lifts FM on base chemicals from Singapore

According to market sources, Shell Singapore lifted the force majeure on base chemicals and restarted its naphtha-fed steam cracker at Pulau Bukom on November 7. It is also reported that the company operates the cracker at full capacity.
Shell had announced a force majeure on base chemicals on September 29 after the company’s steam cracker had been shut on September 27 for a compressor issue.
The steam cracker has a production capacity of 960,000 tons/year of ethylene, 540,000 tons/year of propylene and 186,000 tons/year of butadiene.
