Shell’s Moerdijk petchem site hit by fire

Shell reportedly shut one of its petrochemical plants in Moerdijk, the Netherlands following a fire on November 11, according to market sources. No details were given as to which plants were affected by the fire.

The Moerdijk site is able to produce 900,000 tons/year of ethylene, 450,000 tons/year of propylene, 550,000 tons/year of benzene and 450,000 tons/year of styrene. The company also has downstream units at the same complex.
