Singapore's container ship congestion extends to Malaysian port

The ongoing congestion in Singapore’s ports due to vessels avoiding the Red Sea and Suez Canal has consequentially caused logjams in nearby Port Klang in Malaysia, Bloomberg reported.
Vessels continue to transit around the Cape of Good Hope, which means they can’t refuel or unload cargo in the Middle East. All these vessels passing through Singapore led to serious congestion, diverting some of them to Port Klang in Malaysia, which is vital due to its proximity to Kuala Lumpur.
As a result of the increased number of vessels, Port Klang is also facing a serious logjam currently, with around 20 ships being clustered offshore near Port Klang.
Several analysts expect the ongoing congestion in ports to continue until at least August and as a result, freight rates will continue to surge.
