According to preliminary data released by the government of Singapore, the country’s industrial production unexpectedly fell in November to post the lowest level seen this year. Factory production in Singapore decreased 2.8% year over year in November. Economists’ initial estimates called for an increase of 1.2% in a survey by Reuters.

On a monthly basis, industrial production was down 1.4% compared with a 2.3% increase reported in October. The decrease was attributed to weaker demand for engine repair jobs, plant maintenance shutdowns in the petrochemicals, specialties and petroleum refining segments, globally weak oil prices and a slowdown in China.
