According to media reports, Slovakia’s Slovnaft is planning to start up its new LDPE line by the beginning of 2016. The new line will serve as a replacement for the plant’s older lines and following the start-up of the new line, the company’s overall LDPE production will expand to 220,000 tons/year. The majority of the output from the new line will be exported.

Slovnaft had awarded Maire Tecnimont a contract for the construction work on the plant while the investment value was reported at more than €300 million ($337 million). Through the commissioning of new LDPE capacity, the company aims to strengthen its competitiveness globally and gain access to new markets.
