South Korea’s LG Chem is planning to increase their ethylene production capacity by 15% during their annual maintenance shutdown, according to market sources. The company will reportedly conduct an expansion project at their Yeosu solvents plant during a regular shutdown which is expected to start on October 20.

Once the expansion project is completed, LG Chem’s ethylene production capacity is expected to increase by 15% to reach 1.5 million tons/year. The plant is slated to resume operations by mid-November.

The company’s Yeosu solvent plant is able to use both propane and naphtha as feedstock.
