South Korea’s Taekwang has declared a force majeure on PTA output from its Ulsan plant, according to market sources. The plant has a total capacity of 1 million tons/year. One of the company’s two PTA lines has been offline since October 10 due to an oil leakage. The line has a PTA capacity of 550,000 tons/year. The company also operates another PTA line at the same site with a capacity of 450,000 tons/year, which is currently running at around 45% of capacity.

Sources reported that repairs on the lines may take more than a month and no specific restart date has been set for the plant yet.
