In Turkey, more South Korean ABS producers revealed their September prices while some traders replenished their stocks albeit in moderate amounts following negotiations.

The recent done deals for South Korean origin represented hikes between $10-30/ton when compared to last August transactions, according to traders. Higher deals were attributed to the supportive upstream chain which rose during August as well as supply limitations for ABS, styrene and ACN in Asia stemming from the G20 Summit in China.

Looking at overall price ranges, import South Korean ABS natural was quoted at $1390-1430/ton CIF Turkey, cash no duty. The level jumped $40-60/ton week over week due to prices for a certain South Korean origin above $1400/ton that were not reported in the previous week. Deals, meanwhile, were reported at $1390/ton with the same terms.

ABS white and black prices from South Korea were quoted $30/ton higher on the low ends but held flat on the high ends. The ranges were reported at $1540-1600/ton and $1500-1550/ton, respectively, CIF, cash, amidst deals on the low ends.

“We paid $30/ton increases to our supplier and replenished some material. We believe the market may face tight availability as many traders keep their replenishment activity in moderate amounts,” a trader reported. A second trader paid $10/ton increases for ABS natural as his producer trimmed its initial hike request of $20/ton shortly after, while he replaced some quantity for colored grades with rollovers.

Following the recent September increases, Turkey’s import ABS injection market moved up to the highest levels since one and half months, according to ChemOrbis Price Index.
