South Korean producer raises ABS prices to China

A source from a South Korean producer reported that they implemented an increase of $50/ton on their ABS prices to China, bringing their new offers to $1150/ton on a CFR China, cash basis. Meanwhile, the producer maintained their HIPS offers at $1080/ton with the same terms.

“We raised our ABS offers due to high production costs. Demand remains weak from China, with most buyers still limiting their purchases to their immediate needs. We hope that buying interest will improve following the end of the Chinese New Year holidays,” the source commented.

Based on the prevailing spot ACN, butadiene and styrene prices, theoretical production costs for ABS currently stand at around $1185/ton, putting pressure on sellers to raise their prices in spite of declining energy costs.
