South Korean producer raises HIPS prices to China

A source from a South Korean producer reported that they implemented an increase of $20/ton on their HIPS prices to China, bringing their new offers to $1080/ton on a CFR China, cash basis. The source cited firmer spot styrene costs as the reasons for their price increase. Meanwhile, the producer’s ABS offers to China currently stand at $1100/ton CFR, cash.

The source stated, “Demand remains weak from China as buyers are still limiting their purchases to their immediate needs ahead of the approaching holidays. We hope that buying interest will improve following the end of the Chinese New Year holidays. PS and ABS producers are currently selling at a loss in the face of the recent increases in spot styrene costs.”
