Start-up of India’s Assam Gas Cracker Project delayed

According to market sources, commissioning of India’s Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Ltd (BCPL), also known as the Assam Gas Cracker Project, was delayed to next year due to feedstock supply issues. The project has faced many delays so far while the latest start-up date was June 30.

The BCPL project, a joint venture between Gail India Limited and other shareholders including Oil India Limited and the Government of Assam is located in the northeast region of India while the project is expected to have a production capacity of 220,000 tons/year of PE and 60,000 tons/year of PP. The output of the project is slated to be used for India’s domestic market.
