According to market sources, Taiwan’s Capco, a joint venture between BP and Taiwan’s CPC, is planning to shut its PTA plant in Taichung in mid-October for maintenance, with the unit expected to be off-line for around two weeks. The plant has a production capacity of 750,000 tons/year.

Meanwhile, Capco is expected to complete the dismantling of its five PTA plants in Kaohsiung by the end of this year or by early 2016. The plants, which had a combined capacity of 1.42 million tons/year, had been closed between 2006 and 2013 due to poor operating margins.
