According to data released by the country’s National Bureau of Statistics, the Taiwanese economy grew at a slower rate in the third quarter of this year. The country’s economic growth remained below the estimates mostly due to lower restaurant spending following some food safety concerns in the country.

The country’s gross domestic product (GDP) rose 3.78% on a yearly basis compared with the growth of 3.74% posted in the previous quarter. Initial estimates called for a 3.9% increase in growth, according to a survey by Bloomberg.

However, the country’s export rates increased beyond expectations owing to increasing shipments of electronics, machinery and basic metals.
