According to sources close to the company, Thailand SCG is planning to start up its new PP and PE plants at the Long Son Petrochemical Complex in Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Vietnam by the first quarter of 2023.

The complex will include a 1 million tons/year ethylene cracker with flexible gas and naphtha feed that will produce up to 1.6 million tons/year of olefins. The project will also include 450,000 tons/year HDPE plant and a 400,000 tons/year PP plant as well as an LLDPE plant. The proposed plants are expected to use olefins produced from the cracker.

The $5.4 billion complex will be the first integrated petrochemical complex in Vietnam upon its completion.
