According to media reports, Thailand’s IRPC Pcl will make an investment worth $280 million in order to expand its petrochemical production in 2017 and improve its earnings in the long run. The company’s PP production will be increased by 63% (300,000 tons/year) to 775,000 tons/year by mid-2017, which is expected to make the company the largest PP producer in Southeast Asia, the reports said.

The company reportedly seeks to increase the share of its PP sales volume in its overall petrochemical sales to 55% by 2018 and to 60% by 2020 from 40-42% this year and to raise its margins.

IRPC is also considering the possibility of constructing a refinery and petrochemical complex in Vietnam with a capacity of 200,000 barrels/day.
