According to media reports, Thailand’s Indorama Ventures and India’s Dhunseri have agreed to form an equal joint venture to produce and sell PET in India. Accordingly, Dhunseri will buy a 50% stake in Indorama’s Micro Polypet, which has a 216,000 ton/year PET plant at Panipat, and Indorama will acquire a 50% equity stake in Dhunseri’s new subsidiary, Dhunseri Petrochem Limited which owns a 480,000 tons/year PET plant in Haldia.

Dhunseri’s PET manufacturing site in Egypt is not included the agreement. The agreement is subject to regulatory approvals and is expected to be completed in the second half of this year.
