According to media reports, Thailand’s PTT Global Chemical posted 26.6 billion baht ($817 million) net loss in the fourth quarter of 2014 due to a slump in crude oil prices. This was reported to be the worst-ever quarterly loss of the company. Analysts’ initial estimates called for a loss of around 26.4 billion ($810 million) baht in a survey by Reuters. In the same period of 2013, the company had reported 14.8 billion baht ($454 million) profit.

For the full year of 2014, the company’s net profit slumped 40% to 55.8 billion baht ($1712 billion).
