According to media reports, Toyota Motor is planning to build two car plants in China and Mexico. The investment reportedly will be the company’s first after around a three year freeze stemming from global overcapacity in the automotive sector. During this period, the Japanese company halted production at some of its plants because of excess capacity. The estimated investment value is $1.3 billion, through which the company aims to increase its annual capacity by around 300,000 units a year.

The new plant in China, which is expected to be located in the city of Guangzhou, will be able to produce up to 100,000 cars a year and is expected to be opened in 2018. The other the plant, in Mexico, which is expected to be located in the central state of Guanajuato, will be opened in 2019 and is slated to have a production capacity of around 200,000 cars.
