According to market players in Thailand, the local producer HMC Polymer shut its No 3 PP line from February 11 to February 22 due to technical issues. Reportedly, the first line encountered power supply issues on February 24, after which the producer decided to bring forward its turnaround scheduled for March. The expected length of the turnaround is one month.

Players in the market are uncertain regarding the extent to which this early shutdown may affect the PP market as they are concerned that the producer may not have had sufficient time to build inventory to provide for its customers prior to the shutdown.

HMC Polymers is the second largest PP producer in Southeast Asia with an annual production capacity of over 750,000 tons/year.
