Trinseo posts net loss in Q1, sees Q2 net loss ahead
Net sales dropped by 13% year-on-year to $785 million, reflecting lower sales volumes across all business segments due to weak end-market demand and strategic reductions in low-margin sales.
Polymer Solutions sales fell 22% to $298 million, though the segment’s adjusted EBITDA rose to $44 million on fixed cost reductions and licensing income. Americas Styrenics posted an adjusted EBITDA loss of $2 million, down $8 million from last year due to unfavorable timing impacts.
Looking ahead, Trinseo expects a Q2 net loss of $61 million to $46 million and adjusted EBITDA between $55 million and $70 million. The company withdrew full-year guidance due to ongoing macroeconomic uncertainty and limited visibility on demand trends.
