According to a press release on the company’s website, Trinseo has announced the closure of its 500,000 tons/year styrene plant in Terneuzen. The company was waiting for the completion of joint negotiations with the Works Council in Terneuzen.

The plant will cease operations as of November 1, 2023 as a part of the company’s restructuring plan, which is expected to result in a sequential profitability improvement of $100 million in 2024.

Following the closure, Trinseo will purchase all of its styrene needs from third party suppliers in order to support and maintain its downstream businesses.
