Turkey Freight Rate Update

Freight rates from China and Southeast Asia to the Turkish market have been revised upward for July, according to MTS Izmir. The new rates will be in effect from July 1 until July 31, 2015. The new freight rates were announced with massive hikes while the source reported that they do not think these increases will be fully realized. The freight rates had been kept unchanged from late May until the end of June.

When compared to the most recent adjustments in late May, rates from China to Turkey rose by $650/container for 20’ containers and by $1300-1325/container for 40’ containers. For shipments from Southeast Asia to Turkey, freight rates were also up $675/container for 20’ containers and $1325-1450/container for 40’ containers. Rates from India to Turkey were steady after the most recent adjustment.

Rates from Northwest and Southern Europe to Turkey were stable. For shipments to Turkey from the Middle East, US and Egypt, rates were unchanged.

The following freight rates per container were reported effective as of July 1, 2015 and contain all applicable costs such as bunker adjustment fees (baf) and currency adjustment fees (caf):

The abovementioned freight rates are valid until July 31, 2015. Price ranges for geographical regions are due to freight variations depending on the port.
