Turkey Freight Rate Update

Freight rates from China and Southeast Asia to the Turkish market have been announced with increases for 20’ containers while rates were flat for 40’ containers for the first half of March, according to MTS Izmir. The new rates will be in effect from March 1 until March 14, 2017.

When compared to the rates in late February, freight rates for shipments from China increased $75/container for 20’ containers on the low end and $50/container on the high end while they remained unchanged for 40’ containers. Freight rates from Southeast Asia also increased by $75/container for 20’ containers on the low end and by $100/container on the high end while they did not change for 40’ containers. Rates from India to Turkey remained unchanged.

Rates from Northwest and Southern Europe to Turkey were stable. Rates for shipments to Turkey from the Middle East and the USA were also unchanged.

The following freight rates per container are effective as of March 1, 2017 and contain all applicable costs such as bunker adjustment fees (baf) and currency adjustment fees (caf):

The abovementioned freight rates are valid until March 14, 2017. Price ranges for geographical regions are due to freight variations depending on the port.
