Turkey’s September polymer imports fall 13% on the month
The top polymer exporters to Turkey in September were Saudi Arabia with 71,995 tons, followed by South Korea (39,901 tons), Iran (21,534 tons), France (20,900 tons) and Belgium (17,201 tons).
In September, homo-PP imports were down around 24% to around 108,756 tons compared with the previous month while imports also dropped about 4.6% from the same month of 2015. Saudi Arabia was the top supplier of homo-PP in September with 37,105 tons, followed by Egypt (14,121 tons), India (8,197 tons) and South Korea (8,003 tons).
For PP copolymer, Turkey’s September imports plunged about 19% on the month to 22,411 tons from 27,746 in August while they were also down 1% compared with the same month of 2015. South Korea was the top PP copolymer supplier to Turkey with 6,098 tons in September.
Imports for LLDPE decreased around 12% on the month to 27,673 tons in September while they moved down by around 2% on a yearly basis. Saudi Arabia was the top supplier of LLDPE for another month with 10,479 tons.
Imports for LDPE rose about 10% month over month to 25,985 tons while also increasing around 40% compared with the same month of 2015. The top three exporters were Saudi Arabia (7,481 tons), Spain (3,073 tons), and Belgium (2,062 tons). September HDPE imports rose around 0.7% on a monthly basis to 45,155 tons while imports for HDPE jumped around 13% from a year earlier. The top three exporters were Saudi Arabia (11,669 tons), South Korea (9,212 tons) and Uzbekistan (8,349 tons).
Turkey’s PVC imports also fell around 13% from a month earlier to 51,394 tons in September. On a yearly basis, meanwhile, PVC imports also dropped down about 32%. France was at the top of the September PVC import list with 16,200 tons, followed by Mexico (9,181 tons) and Spain (5,522 tons).
Turkey imported 16,206 tons of PS in September, a decrease of about 18.5% on the month while also down around 21% on the year. Belgium remained the top supplier with 5,447 tons. ABS imports, meanwhile, fell 17.2% month over month to 8,850 tons in September while imports were also up around 21% on a yearly basis from 7,321 tons in September 2015. South Korea remained the top supplier with 6,179 tons.
Meanwhile, imports for PET bottle decreased around 12% month over month to 11,686 tons in September while imports rose by 17.6% from the 9,931 tons reported in the same month of 2015.
