Turkey’s central bank keeps rates flat

Turkey’s central bank kept its three main interest rates unchanged after raising the lending rate and one-week repo rate in November. Accordingly, one-week repurchase rate stood at 8% while overnight lending and borrowing rates stood at 8.5% and 7.25% respectively.

Central bank Governor had previously said this month that they would rather wait before taking a policy action and observe if the weakening of the local currency would have a short or long term effect on inflation in order to be able to make a better evaluation of the country’s situation.
