Turkey’s exports decline 14.4% in January: TIM

According to data from the Turkish Assembly of Exporters (TIM), Turkey’s exports declined 14.4% year on year in January to $9.21 billion from $10.76 billion in the same month of last year. In the past twelve months, Turkey’s exports fell 9.8% to $140.635 billion.

Among individual sectors, the automotive sector posted the highest exports at $1.515 billion, followed by the ready-made clothing sector with $1.34 billion and chemical materials and products with $1 billion.

Turkey’s main export destinations were Germany, the UK, Italy, the US and Iraq in January. According to TIM, exports to Germany were down by 1.5% while exports to the UK plunged 15.9% from a year earlier. On the hand, exports to Italy, the US and Iraq also declined 2%, 6.6% and 47.9% on the year in January.
