Turkey’s home sales fall 1.9% in January

According to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Turkey’s home sales declined 1.9% to 84,556 units in January compared with the same month of 2015.Istanbul had the highest share of home sales at 18.4% with 15,526 units, followed by Ankara with 9,012 units (10.7%) and Izmir with 5,243 units (6.2%). The smallest number of home sales, meanwhile, was recorded in Şırnak with 6 units.

New home sales held a 47.4% share of Turkey’s total home sales in January with 40,077 units, up 5.5% from the same month of 2015. Istanbul recorded the highest number of new home sales with 7,036 units, followed by 3,642 new sales in Ankara and 2,493 in Izmir.
