Turkey’s home sales increase in August

According to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Turkey’s home sales increased on the year in August. Home sales increased 6.5% to 112,463 units in August compared with the same period of the previous year. Istanbul had the highest share of home sales at 16.8%, or 13,139 units, followed by Ankara (11.7%) and Izmir (5.8%). The smallest number of home sales, meanwhile, was recorded in Ardahan with 13 units, followed by 24 units in Hakkari and 57 in Bayburt.

New home sales held a 47.3% share of Turkey’s total house sales in August with 53,218 units, up 9% from the same period of 2014. Istanbul recorded the highest number of new home sales with 9,070 units, followed by 6,153 new sales in both Ankara and 2,709 in Izmir.
