Turkey’s home sales post steep decline in September

According to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Turkey’s home sales fell sharply in September, declining by 20.1% to 92,483 units compared with the same month of 2014. İstanbul had the highest share of home sales at 17.3% with 15,994 units while it was followed by Ankara (10.6%) and Izmir (5.7%). The smallest number of home sales, meanwhile, was recorded in Hakkari with 11 units, followed by 16 units in Şırnak and 19 units in Ardahan.

New home sales held a 46.9% share of Turkey’s total house sales in September with 43,333 units, down 18.3% from the same period of 2014. Istanbul recorded the highest number of new home sales with 7,555 units, followed by 4,184 new sales in Ankara and 2,032 in Izmir.
