According to data released by the Turkish Plastics Industry Foundation (PAGEV), plastic goods exports declined 3% on the year to 1.2 million tons in the first ten months of the year. The value of these exports fell 14% to around $3.2 billion due to lower crude oil prices and fluctuations in the euro/dollar parity. Exports for both plastic raw materials and goods also fell to 1.6 million tons in volume and to $3.9 billion in value.

In the January-October period, plastic production remained stable at 6.3 million tons compared with the same period of the previous year; however it declined 11% in value to $24 billion.

In first nine months of the year, packaging products ranked first with 2.2 million tons followed by plastic construction materials at 1.2 million tons in the list of main export products. In the same period, local plastic consumption in Turkey remained unchanged at 5.6 million tons when compared to the same period of last year.
