Turkey’s vehicle registrations up on month, down on year in May

According to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute, the number of road motor vehicles registered to traffic reached a total of 21,556,827 units in May, with 110,500 new road motor vehicle registrations. The number of road motor vehicles registrations increased by 11.3% on the month in May. On a yearly basis, however, road motor vehicle registrations were down by 4.7% compared with the same month of 2016.
The data showed that within 110,500 new registrations in May, cars accounted for the highest percentage of total vehicles at 58.1%, followed by motorcycles (15.9%), small trucks (15.3%) and tractors (6.6%). Trucks, buses, minibuses and special purpose vehicles constituted 4.1% of total vehicles.
