According to sources close to the company, Turkmenistan is close to finishing the construction of a new petrochemical complex in Kiyanly, which will produce 386,000 tons/year of PE and 81,000 tons/year of PP, in Q1 of 2017. 90% of the construction is complete, said sources, while the start-up date is unclear for now.

The complex, which will be operated jointly by Japan’s TOYO Engineering and South Korea’s LG International Corporation and Hyundai Engineering Corp. Ltd., will use the technology of the world’s leading companies, Japan’s TOYO, UK’s Ineos, America’s LUMMUS and GRACE.

The cooperation agreement was first signed between the Turkmen State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs and the Japanese Bank for International Cooperation in September 2013 as part of the plan to develop the county’s oil and gas industry.

Turkmenistan’s chemical industry has a big share in its economy and is one of the fastest growing sectors.
