According to media reports, two chemical plants in Tianjin, China, Tianjin Chemical Plant and Tianjin Dagu in the districts of Hangu and Tanggu, will be relocated to the Nangang Industrial Zone. Relocation work for the plants is expected to start this year and is estimated to cost a total of CNY29 billion ($4.5 billion). The two factories were initially built in the 1930s.

Following massive explosions at a chemical warehouse where more than 160 people lost their lives in 2015, Tianjin stopped issuing approvals for constructions of new chemical plants and started moving existing chemical plants to the Nangang Industrial Zone, 10 kilometers from the nearest residential areas.
