According to media reports, the liquefied natural gas (LNG) storage facility in Jebel Ali, Dubai is likely to be expanded soon in an effort to keep pace with the United Arab Emirates’ growing energy needs. The facility currently has a capacity of 3 million tons, while precise details as to the size of the additional capacity and the completion time of the upgrade have yet to be clarified.

The planned capacity expansion could come from the Dubai Supply Authority, who had earlier announced that they would upgrade their LNG Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) from a capacity of 3 million tons to 4.5 million tons by April 2015 and to 6 million tons by the end of this year.
