According to data released by the UK’s Office for National Statistics (ONS), the country’s retail sales fell 0.6% on the month in October, declining at a faster pace than economists’ estimates, which called for a drop of 0.5% in a survey conducted by Reuters. The decrease was led by the biggest drop in food store sales seen since May 2014.

On a yearly basis, meanwhile, the UK’s retail sales including auto fuel sales were up 3.8% in October, slower than economists’ expectations calling for an increase of 4.2%.
