US economy posts larger-than-expected growth in Q3

The US Commerce Department announced on Friday that GDP increased by 3% in Q3 following a jump of 3.1% in the previous quarter.
Although the economic growth slowed only slightly on a quarter basis, this exceeded the expectations of analysts for an increase of 2.5%.
The stronger than expected growth in GDP came in line with the positive contributions from consumer spending, private inventory investment, non-residential fixed investment, exports, and federal government spending, said the Commerce Department.
