According to data released by the US Commerce Department, US factory orders posted a 1.5% fall in June, according to the final report. Orders had been estimated to have fallen 1% in the initial report released in July.

Manufacturers were still trying to raise their sales since global demand for their goods was slow. Additionally, business capital spending also decelerated, mainly in the energy sector.

Durable goods orders decreased 3.9% on the back of a plunge in new orders for commercial aircraft. Factory orders excluding volatile transportation declined by 0.4% while auto orders increased 3.2%.
