According to the data released by the US Commerce Department, new US single-family home sales surged unexpectedly in September to their highest level in nearly 10 years.
The significant increase in new home purchases was attributed to the accelerated activity following the hurricanes Harvey and Irma.
New home sales increased by 18.9% on a monthly basis to 667,000 units in September after a revised 561,000 in August, defying the previous expectations for a drop to 555,000.
