The US has suspended the planned increase in trade tariffs on $250 billion worth of Chinese goods from October 15 after two days of negotiations in Washington.

In a tweet, US President Donald Trump announced “I agreed not to increase tariffs from 25% to 30% on October 15. They will remain at 25%. The relationship with China is very good. We will finish out the large Phase One part of the deal, then head directly into Phase Two. The Phase One Deal can be finalized and signed soon!”

China, on its part, has agreed to purchase very large quantities of US agricultural products, he added in another tweet.
