According to market sources, Ukraine’s Karpatneftekhim is planning to resume production in early June following a five-year shutdown. Once restarted, the company will produce 250,000 tons/year of ethylene.

Karpatneftekhim had halted operations in September 2012 for an upgrade but had not restarted since then. Lukoil later sold it to İlkham Mamedov, a Lukoil executive who ran Karpatneftekhim for the company, in February 2017.

Before the shutdown, Karpatneftekhim was able to produce around 300,000 tons/year of PVC, 100,000 tons/year of PE, 250,000 tons/year of ethylene, 200,000 tons/year of caustic soda and 180,000 tons/year of chlorine.
