Unexpected shutdown at Total’s Antwerp cracker

France’s Total Petrochemicals has shut their NC3 naphtha cracker in Antwerp, Belgium, according to market sources. The company hasn’t cited any reason for the unplanned shutdown and no specific restart date has been set for the cracker.

The company’s Antwerp site houses three crackers with a combined ethylene capacity of 1.38 million tons/year. The company’s NC3 cracker is able to produce 580,000 tons/year of ethylene.
