The Czech Republic’s Unipetrol is planning to begin construction of its new HDPE plant in Litvinov in the second quarter of 2016, according to market sources. Unipetrol awarded an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract to France’s Technip for the new plant, which is slated to have a production capacity of 270,000 tons/year. The plant will replace two smaller HDPE lines at the same site with a combined production capacity of 120,000 tons/year.

Unipetrol plans to commission its new HDPE plant in Litvinov by the middle of 2018 and once the new plant is launched, Unipetrol’s HDPE production capacity is expected to increase to 470,000 tons/year.

The Litvinov site can currently produce 320,000 tons/year of HDPE, 544,000 tons/year of ethylene and 290,000 tons/year of PP.
