Update on Borealis’s force majeure

According to market sources, Borealis declared force majeure only on the supplies from its splitter at its complex in Kallo, Belgium, but not on the production from its PDH unit.

Technically, a splitter is used to purify refinery and chemical grade propylene to produce polymer grade propylene. Whether the force majeure on supplies from the splitter will affect the downstream unit was not yet known.

The unit at Kallo has a production capacity of 480,000 tons/year of propylene.
