Updates on Turkey’s latest plastic bag ban

Federation of Turkish Retailers (TPF) announced that some plastic bags given out by retail stores will be exempted from the new ban, which is set to come into effect on January 1.
Accordingly, the proposed plastic bag ban will exempt thin plastic bags used for loose bulk items such as fruit, vegetables, and baked goods. Single-use carrier bags used for the containing meat and fish will also be exempted from the proposed TRY0.25 charge.
