Uzbekistan government approves petchem projects with China

According to media reports, Uzbekistan’s government has granted approval for a feasibility study for a petrochemicals complex that will include PVC, caustic soda and methanol production as part of the Navoiazot JSC in collaboration with China.

In August 2014, Uzbekistan’s Navoiazot JSC and Uzkimyosanoat signed a contract with China’s CAMC Engineering Co. for the construction of a petrochemicals complex which is slated to include 100,000 tons/year of PVC capacity, 75,000 tons/year of caustic soda capacity and 300,000 tons/year of methanol capacity. The estimated value of the project has been reported at $439.8 million. The Uzbek Fund for Reconstruction and Development (UFRD) will provide $65.97 million for the construction of the petrochemical complex.
