According to a statement dated December 30 on the company’s website, Italy’s Versalis, the petrochemical subsidiary of Italy-based Eni SpA, reached an agreement with Italian refiner Saras for the transfer of Versalis’ Sarroch plants. The deal reportedly did not have a financial dimension and was done with the aim of improving integration between the two companies so as to enhance the competitiveness of the site.

Through the agreement, Saras will acquire approximately 80% of Varsalis’ operations in the Sarroch petrochemical plant. Among the main units acquired by Saras are the gasoline and hydrogen reformer, the BTX unit and the propylene splitter.
