According to media reports, Vietnam’s Nghi Son refinery project is on pace to start up in mid-2017. The refinery complex, a joint venture between Japan’s Idemitsu Kosan, Mitsui Chemicals, state oil and gas group PetroVietnam and Kuwait Petroleum International, will be able to process 200,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd) while output from the refinery will be directed mainly to the domestic market. More than 60% of the construction work has been completed so far.

The Nghi Son project is the country’s second oil refinery project and it will also include a petrochemical complex which will house an integrated aromatics complex and a 700,000 tons/year PP unit.
