Vietnam’s Nghi Son refinery to start up PP plant

According to market sources, Vietnam’s new Nghi Son refinery is planning to start operations at its PP plant in January 2018 in line with the start-up of the refinery. The initial start-up of the $7.5 billion refinery was scheduled for the second quarter of 2017, but was later delayed to 2018.
Nghi Son is expected to have a capacity of 400,000 tons/year PP production. According to sources, the 100,000 tons/year of PP from the plant will be sold to the domestic market. The plant is likely to decrease the country’s dependency on PP imports.
