According to media reports, major automaker Volkswagen is planning to recall around 11 million diesel vehicles containing illegal emission software to refit them. The recall will be one of the biggest recalls in history from a single automaker while according to some analysts it may cost Volkswagen more than $6.5 billion.

Volkswagen previously reported that 11 million vehicles were fitted with software capable of manipulating the results of emissions tests, including 5 million units at its VW brand, 2.1 million at its luxury brand Audi, 1.2 million at Czech division Skoda and 1.8 million light commercial vehicles.
